Wisdom of Emptiness

empty bowlBirds have hollow bones and excrete their wastes immediately without keeping them inside their bodies, and this enables birds to be light enough to fly high in the sky.

Flowers are not stubborn about keeping their beauty forever, but know when  to wither and this enables flowers to produce abundant fruit.

When shaping clay into a vessel, a potter leaves an empty space within the clay, so that it can be used as a vessel.

Likewise, although “emptiness” seems to mean nothing or a loss, it is the wisdom of filling.

Fill by emptying.
